Spring Hair or Winter Hair? Problems with Each
Glittering snow, cozy nights in front of the fireplace, hot chocolate with caramel corn, and dry, frizzy hair. Dry, frizzy hair? Yes! Unfortunately, winter can be cruel to even the most manageable locks.
Cold weather can leave your ‘do looking sloppy and unkempt. Hair troubles, like dulled color and frizziness, occur more often during the winter months. The culprit? Lack of moisture! Indoor heating systems steal much of the moisture from the air – and your hair. Since your hair is already in danger of dehydration, avoid using your blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron any more than you have to. If you’re not too pressed for time, let your locks dry naturally before styling.
Select conditioning products that suit your hair type and counter the negative effects of the frosty weather. If your daily conditioner simply isn’t cutting it, opt for a weekly treatment of hot oil or deep conditioning cream. Check the ingredients; cetyl alcohol and cetearyl alcohol, which are derived from coconut oil, are fantastic moisturizers for your mane! After you’ve quenched your hair’s thirst, rinse it in cool water to lock that moisture in.
When you venture outdoors, wearing a scarf or cap to cover your tresses will help protect it from harsh winds, errant snowflakes, and scalp-numbing cold. Sheltering your hair from the frigid elements will help keep it vibrant and full of life all winter long.
